Did the darkness really fade?||

humptysuny:

Those words like knives against his skin, his already decadent skin, felt like rivers of blood were about to come out of his ears, and those words were the salt to be rubbed all over the wound, even worse than that, felt like he skinned himself alive and dipped in the ocean, as the salt covered his entire muscles all the way through his nervous system and staying in his bones, he was feeling pain.

The reach out and the warmth of that hand made his system explode though, eyes wide open and a glance, an hysterical glance, fear, annoyance, hatred, anger, all of those putrid feelings that had their root in the bottom of his heart by now. Why was he touching him.  This was going further than any hallucination from the Abyss, but how could Elliot tell? He had never been there in the past, never in the past.

The one to apologize? Even this clone of his best friend was perfect, pure stupidity mumbled from those lips, the one to apologize, as he could feel he was about to burst in laughter he was insane, this whole deal was insane and drained him at all… No energy, blood or logic left, hope? That was a thing from the past to Elliot, what hope can someone have, someone like him.

But it wasn’t until the other one tried to take all the blame when his hatred surfaced his skin once more. What a real ridiculous statement he had done right now? Elliot was the master, THE ONE TO PROTECT HIS SERVANT, WHAT KIND OF NONE SENSE WAS THIS COPY PULLING ON HIM.

“It’s not your fault, idiot!  I WAS THE ONE WHO IGNORED ALL THOSE IMAGES, I PLAYED DUMB, I TRIED TO ERASE THAT MEMORY, I TOLD YOU IT WAS NOTHING BUT A DREAM, IT WAS THE EFFECT OF WHAT I TRIED TO HIDE.”

Just what kind of idiot he was, but his tears… those were real weren’t they? Is this one Leo? The unknown kid he met back in Sabrie? The one who was his equal? How dared him to act in such way, weakest being he was now it seemed, and if this wasn’t an illusion, if it happened by a small, the smallest chance given by faith that they met once more, and this place is real, Elliot wasn’t going to forgive him acting like this. Why was he even crying? What an utter idiot Leo was.

But this servant was having a mental break down right in front of his master, and Elliot wasn’t one to forgive such thing, nor he would let it just happen so easy.

“Stop that right now, DON’T YOU EVEN DARE TO TURN INTO A LITTLE GIRL AND CRY ON ME. I am Elliot Nightray, noble of the Nightray family and I above all that am your master and by that faculty command you to stop yourself or I swear I will beat you up.”

How revolting. Leo could taste the saltiness of his tears as they continued to pour down his cheeks. He felt them dampen his hands and swell his paleface but god help him he just couldn’t quit it. How embarrassingly revolting, nearly a grown man an he’s crying like a little girl who got her heart broken.

Apparently he wasn’t the only one made uncomfortable by his morose reaction, as Elliot’s rough voice broke through his dwindling apologies. Him shifting the blame once more, taking credit for it all. Leo’s face was still buried in his hands, too ashamed to show his reddened cheeks to the one he respected most.

All he could do was swiftly shake his head. No, no you idiot, why can’t you see it was me? I forced you to make the contract, I ignored the signs, I lied to you it was me— me me ME!

But Elliot wasn’t having any of that— and with his throat raw from tension, Leo couldn’t protest. Simply stand there and try to listen to his Master’s commands, as any good servant should do. This was so embarrassing, and when Leo finally composed himself enough so that he could disconnect his nose from his fingers, he didn’t look up. Couldn’t look into those eyes.

“I’m serious, Elliot, listen to me!” He began a little louder than expected, his body still shuddering, threatening to break down again. “I don’t know why you’re here right now or how long it will last but you need to understand, It really is my fault.

“That one afternoon in Sabriel… I forced you to make the contract. I didn’t know what else to do to keep you from dying but… I’m sorry. Please, just don’t…” He exhaled, his entire body trembling. “Just…”

Just please don’t leave again.

The words were there hanging in his throat, but by the time they got up to his tongue that tiny amount of voice he used to confess had slipped away in fear from his own sins. To distract himself Leo removed his eyeglasses, which had now become sopping wet and fogged to the point of opacity, and gently wiped them on his coat jacket to clean them.

His head felt dizzy, he needed to break away from the situation for just a few moments if he were to ever keep his composure upstanding. This was like a nightmare, and any moment he should be waking up now.. shouldn’t he?

Did the darkness really fade?||

humptysuny:

It wasn’t until then, when that familiar voice reached his ear that Elliot felt to be hit in the middle of the face, omniscient power pulling him back to his senses or perhaps throwing him in the dark room of the insane ones, he didn’t know, everything turned blurry, the voice drove him insane. He wasn’t suppose to hear it again, he wasn’t suppose to meet it again, there was a long dark road in between there was life and death in between them now. There was logic and sense, there was tragedy and consequences, there was destiny and abyss.

He is insane, that must be it… This is nothing but the consequence of his actions, the guilt that followed him in the after life, even this scenario was nothing but a mere creation of his imagination, imagination that craved to see it once more, his desire to be alive, or perhaps redeem himself, this place was existent only inside his head and he had never met those strangers nor he woke up in some city, everything was a trick of the head. A trick of the head…

STOP!” Pause, blood in the veins burning in anger, head about to explode this was unreal, this wasn’t real, this was a joke, he was nothing but a joke, he was being the puppet of the Abyss… this wasn’t real. I AM ELLIOT NIGHTRAY, REGARDLESS OF MY DEATH OR LIFE YOU CANNOT USE MY MEMORIES AGAINST ME, YOU WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAINST ME.”

Hands holding the head back, shivers of anger. And the voice echoing inside of him… “…Elliot.” just like if it was a whisper of death straight to his soul to revive the pain.

And all of the flashbacks all of them attacking him, his biggest current enemies, all of the guilt, all of the pain.. it was starting just again and it was draining and consuming him, just the murmur from that voice was destroying his sanity, what was left of his sanity, what was left of the noble… And a whisper slide through his fingers a mortal whisper.

“Leo, I’m so sorry.” How pathetic Elliot Nightray, you’re about to fall on knees to the will of the Abyss destroying who you are, it destroyed who you are.

Silence.

It lasted forever, the two of them standing there like a pair of statues, just staring. Then like a bullet it hit. The pit of his stomach began to burn in a confused tangle of emotions, each one fighting the rest in an effort to stay on top. He wanted to shout, to laugh, to kill, all of the above but most of all he just wanted to do something other than just stand there.

Air pushed out of his throat and the beginning of words brushed past his teeth. Before he could even get the first one out, however, Elliot began to scream.

STOP!

Leo jumped, startled at the stark volume of his voice that shattered the silence. He was yelling and Leo didn’t know what to do, his mouth sewn shut and his knuckles clenched in anxiety. Elliot then cradled his head in his hands and began to shiver and somehow Leo couldn’t help but feel like laughing.

Laughing, of all things.

Laughing at the fact that even now, in this heinously warped situation, even when both sides were on the edge of their sanity, even after everything that had come before, it was just like old times.

No matter how temperamental Leo could be, Elliot was always the one to snap first, always ranting and raving in such a theatrical manner. And as always Leo’s own anger would be quelled upon sight, using his then-rendered calm to help make sure Elliot didn’t do anything dumb to hurt himself or others.

It was the same here. His emotions were an indeterminable melange, vomit boiled in his stomach and threatened to force its way up his throat, and all he wanted to do was run and scream until his lungs burst.

But he didn’t. Instead, a shaky hand reached out to grip at his ostensibly deceased friend’s arm. “It’s alright, Elliot.” The words that left his lips were weak, and saying that name again twisted his insides. He knew already he was going insane. Hell, he had always been insane, hadn’t he?

….But if being insane is what it took to turn back time…

“I’m the one who should apologize.”

…and allow him to say sorry…

“It’s my fault this happened, anyway.”

….Then it would have to do.

“It’s all my fault… and I’m sorry…” The faltering in his voice became worse and more distinct, he was beginning to crack. The calm exterior he was trying to upkeep was crumbling quickly.

“I’m sorry.” He repeated, over and over.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, Elliot…”

Moving notes[Open]

livingpiano:

[The young girl blinked at the video that had played before her. She had seen a T.V before, but never one like this- It was different, it looked newer, a higher class. Had something happen to her owner and they had moved while she was not paying attention? She looked about the room as the man from the video, not really catching what he said. Her owner did not have many rooms of one whole color, nor did she think he would stick her in one of them, not even to make her stand out.]

[Sighing, she walked outside, fearing she would have to find her owner herself, for there was no movers, no one was there besides the video man. However once outside was a completely new story. There were many people, many faces, and many that didn’t seem… Right. She made her way through the crowd; however, these people were not as kind as those she was used to, in the end, she was shoved a little, falling towards the curb of the nearby street.]

[Hearing the horn of the incoming car, she shrieked- A high-pitched piano note coming from her instead- and dashed back into the crowd to avoid the car, rushing into another and landed on her knees. It had just now hit her she was moving on her own, no movers, no trucks, nothing. She looked to herself, and found she looked that of a human girl- Another note went to escape her mouth before she quickly covered it with bother her hands- Just what was going on?!]

It’s really noisy.

A symphony of human chattering surrounded him, odd bits of conversation making it to his ears now and then. Noisy, but not entirely cacophonous. In a way it almost sounded like music, albeit without a proper beat or rhythm.

Perhaps it was just the unconscious craving Leo had for something melodic. He barely touched the piano, a prime source of happiness for him, since the incident occurred and his ears were starving for the smooth sound it emitted when touched.

As he bustled and bumped between shoulders the most peculiar thing happened, Leo could swear he heard the single note of a piano resonate through the chattering. But it was probably a delusion, another head locked whisper of his subconscious.

But then it sounded again, and this time Leo gave in and picked his head up to search for it, not entirely surprised when he couldn’t see a source in sight. How stupid of him.

However, there was something that caught his attention: the form of a distressed-looking girl now sitting on the ground, hands clasped around her mouth like she was about to throw up. A pause ensued in which the boy debated over investigating further or not—why should he help her? But before his mind could catch up his feet had already walked over and hand outstretched.

“Are you alright, Miss..?”

Did the darkness really fade?||

humptysuny:

Tic-toc-tic-toc… the sound of a clock in the distance as he laid unconscious in the Abyss. Tic toc tic toc... the sound began to become louder and louder, like wanting to wake him up.  Not even the darkness surrounding him was able to destroy the sound, slowly movement, as his eyes shifted from side to side, not even after he opened his eyes the light could be seen. Only darkness, too much darkness, abysmal darkness. “…I’m dead, I know this.” He didn’t want to admit to himself his days had been over, he never wanted nor he ever dared to imagine they would end in such way.

“It’s true…” Arm dragged closer as the back of the hand laid down on his forehead… “I destroyed you.” He made a …sacrifice? No, that wasn’t a sacrifice, it was his destiny, the one he tried to convince himself of being a lie. Finally composing himself now on his feet, only more darkness in front, side and behind.

“I deserved all of this don’t I?” All of those deaths, all of that blood, his family… he didn’t honoured his house. How could he even dared to call himself a noble anymore? A sigh escaping his lips… “Leo, forgive me.”

No, this wasn’t the abyss anymore, what is this place? And why did everything suddenly change? He was dead, he knew and understood this perfectly… why is there a flash of sunlight meeting his face? Why are his pupils seeing the daylight once more? Why, why… just what is even going on in this place? Like he had time to stay there and do nothing… He needed answers, and he was going to get them, all of the answers, a LOGIC explanation to this situation, to what he was now living, and more importantly, he would find his way back to his house, his noble house, if this was a hint for him to consider himself alive once more, he’ll go back there, there’s just a lot to he has to do.

So he finally runs into someone and without any hesitation mutters.

“Do you mind explaining where I am, and how to get away from this place, also… is this the abyss?”

It’s all your fault.

Your fault.

Yours.

Ever since Elliot’s death these were the only words running through the servant’s head. Even when the members of Pandora continued to question him it was all he could think about, not even hearing the questions being asked to him and hardly ever giving a coherent response. He had become a recluse, secluded in a heavy cloud of guilt that dulled his senses and clawed at his mind.

You did this.

Over and over it repeated, masking his surroundings and rendering Leo oblivious to the situation. Not even when he had turned up in a completely unknown place with a voice scratching over him would Leo take notice.

Because it didn’t matter. It was just another interrogation session. Just another endless string of talking that he didn’t want to hear and people whom he didn’t want to see. Bumbling through the streets he kept his head low, black shaggy hair covering his face as usual. A million people wandered around him, unfamiliar and strange. On one end he couldn’t care less about them.

On the other, he hated them.

He hated them because none of them were the face he wanted to see. Because all of them were walking, living, breathing carelessly while his best friend lay dormant in an endless slumber.

One that you put him in.

They didn’t deserve it. They didn’t deserve to be free to walk around, to have hearts beating in their chests, air filling their lungs. None of them did. Despicable, deplorable imbeciles, they should all just die, shouldn’t they…? Just as he was thinking this another person had once again bumped into him full-on, causing his feet to stumble and his head to lift for the first time since arriving.

He would have snapped right then and there if it weren’t for the fact he couldn’t even begin to speak. Every limb froze, their surroundings seemed to fade, mumbling voices became muted as Leo stood completely petrified, heart struggling to continue beating.

He tried to say something, to call out that name, but the attempt was in vain and all he could do was stand there, lips slightly parted as the empty shells of words failed to reach them.
