Did the darkness really fade?||
Those words like knives against his skin, his already decadent skin, felt like rivers of blood were about to come out of his ears, and those words were the salt to be rubbed all over the wound, even worse than that, felt like he skinned himself alive and dipped in the ocean, as the salt covered his entire muscles all the way through his nervous system and staying in his bones, he was feeling pain.
The reach out and the warmth of that hand made his system explode though, eyes wide open and a glance, an hysterical glance, fear, annoyance, hatred, anger, all of those putrid feelings that had their root in the bottom of his heart by now. Why was he touching him. This was going further than any hallucination from the Abyss, but how could Elliot tell? He had never been there in the past, never in the past.
The one to apologize? Even this clone of his best friend was perfect, pure stupidity mumbled from those lips, the one to apologize, as he could feel he was about to burst in laughter he was insane, this whole deal was insane and drained him at all… No energy, blood or logic left, hope? That was a thing from the past to Elliot, what hope can someone have, someone like him.
But it wasn’t until the other one tried to take all the blame when his hatred surfaced his skin once more. What a real ridiculous statement he had done right now? Elliot was the master, THE ONE TO PROTECT HIS SERVANT, WHAT KIND OF NONE SENSE WAS THIS COPY PULLING ON HIM.
“It’s not your fault, idiot! I WAS THE ONE WHO IGNORED ALL THOSE IMAGES, I PLAYED DUMB, I TRIED TO ERASE THAT MEMORY, I TOLD YOU IT WAS NOTHING BUT A DREAM, IT WAS THE EFFECT OF WHAT I TRIED TO HIDE.”
Just what kind of idiot he was, but his tears… those were real weren’t they? Is this one Leo? The unknown kid he met back in Sabrie? The one who was his equal? How dared him to act in such way, weakest being he was now it seemed, and if this wasn’t an illusion, if it happened by a small, the smallest chance given by faith that they met once more, and this place is real, Elliot wasn’t going to forgive him acting like this. Why was he even crying? What an utter idiot Leo was.
But this servant was having a mental break down right in front of his master, and Elliot wasn’t one to forgive such thing, nor he would let it just happen so easy.
“Stop that right now, DON’T YOU EVEN DARE TO TURN INTO A LITTLE GIRL AND CRY ON ME. I am Elliot Nightray, noble of the Nightray family and I above all that am your master and by that faculty command you to stop yourself or I swear I will beat you up.”
How revolting. Leo could taste the saltiness of his tears as they continued to pour down his cheeks. He felt them dampen his hands and swell his paleface but god help him he just couldn’t quit it. How embarrassingly revolting, nearly a grown man an he’s crying like a little girl who got her heart broken.
Apparently he wasn’t the only one made uncomfortable by his morose reaction, as Elliot’s rough voice broke through his dwindling apologies. Him shifting the blame once more, taking credit for it all. Leo’s face was still buried in his hands, too ashamed to show his reddened cheeks to the one he respected most.
All he could do was swiftly shake his head. No, no you idiot, why can’t you see it was me? I forced you to make the contract, I ignored the signs, I lied to you it was me— me me ME!
But Elliot wasn’t having any of that— and with his throat raw from tension, Leo couldn’t protest. Simply stand there and try to listen to his Master’s commands, as any good servant should do. This was so embarrassing, and when Leo finally composed himself enough so that he could disconnect his nose from his fingers, he didn’t look up. Couldn’t look into those eyes.
“I’m serious, Elliot, listen to me!” He began a little louder than expected, his body still shuddering, threatening to break down again. “I don’t know why you’re here right now or how long it will last but you need to understand, It really is my fault.”

“That one afternoon in Sabriel… I forced you to make the contract. I didn’t know what else to do to keep you from dying but… I’m sorry. Please, just don’t…” He exhaled, his entire body trembling. “Just…”
Just please don’t leave again.
The words were there hanging in his throat, but by the time they got up to his tongue that tiny amount of voice he used to confess had slipped away in fear from his own sins. To distract himself Leo removed his eyeglasses, which had now become sopping wet and fogged to the point of opacity, and gently wiped them on his coat jacket to clean them.
His head felt dizzy, he needed to break away from the situation for just a few moments if he were to ever keep his composure upstanding. This was like a nightmare, and any moment he should be waking up now.. shouldn’t he?
